¿QUÉ ES LA LEGIÓN DE MARÍA?

Es una organización apostólica mundial de laicos en la Iglesia Católica con más de 2 millones de miembros activos en más de 170 países. Fue fundado por Frank Duff en Dublín, Irlanda, el 7 de septiembre de 1921 y celebró su Centenario en 2021. Ha estado activo en los Estados Unidos desde 1931, ha sido aprobado por muchos papas, incluido el Papa San Juan Pablo II, y respaldado por el Concilio Vaticano II.

¿CUÁL ES EL PROPÓSITO DE LA LEGIÓN DE MARÍA?

El fin principal de la Legión de María es la santificación de sus miembros a través de la oración, los sacramentos y la devoción a María y a la Santísima Trinidad, y del mundo entero a través del apostolado de la Legión.

¿CUÁLES SON LAS OBRAS DE LA LEGIÓN DE MARÍA?

El énfasis está en las Obras de Misericordia: visitar a los enfermos, evangelizar de puerta en puerta, apostolado a la multitud, distribuir literatura católica especialmente el boletín de la iglesia, animar a los católicos apartados a volver a la práctica de su fe, visitar a las familias para ver si niños han sido bautizados, enseñando RICA y otras clases de educación religiosa, promoviendo la práctica de la Misa diaria y la devoción al Santísimo Sacramento, llevando la estatua de la Virgen Peregrina de la Santísima Madre a las casas para difundir la devoción al Rosario, Entronización del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús en los hogares y ministerio penitenciario. La Legión de María busca aumentar el conocimiento, la fe y el amor de Dios de las personas y al mismo tiempo aumentar la fe y la santidad de sus propios miembros a través de la oración y el servicio al Señor, teniendo a María como Modelo.

Todo legionario está obligado a realizar un trabajo apostólico semanal en espíritu de fe y en unión con María.

¿CÓMO ME INGRESO A LA LEGIÓN DE MARÍA?

La membresía activa está abierta a todos los hombres y mujeres católicos mayores de 18 años.

WHAT IS THE LEGION OF MARY?

It is a worldwide apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with well over 2 million active members in over 170 countries. It was founded by Frank Duff in Dublin, Ireland on September 7, 1921 and celebrated its Centennial in 2021. It has been active in the United States since 1931, has been approved by many popes including St. Pope John Paul II, and endorsed by the Second Vatican Council.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE LEGION OF MARY?

The primary purpose of the Legion of Mary is the sanctification of its members through prayer, the sacraments and devotion to Mary and the Holy Trinity, and of the whole world through the apostolate of the Legion.

WHAT ARE THE WORKS OF THE LEGION OF MARY?

Emphasis is on the Works of Mercy: visiting the sick, door-to-door evangelization, Apostolate to the crowd, distributing Catholic literature specially the church bulletin, encouraging fallen away Catholics to return to the practice of their faith, visiting families to see if children have been baptized, teaching RCIA and other religious education classes, promoting the practice of daily Mass and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, bringing the Pilgrim Virgin statue of the Blessed Mother to houses to spread devotion to the Rosary, Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the homes and prison ministry.The Legion of Mary seeks to increase people’s knowledge, faith and love of God and at the same time increase the faith and holiness of its own members through prayer and service to our Lord, with Mary as its Model.

Every legionary is encouraged to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary.

HOW DO I JOIN THE LEGION OF MARY?

Active membership is open to all Catholic men and women 18 years of age and over.
