Children's Formation - Catecismo para Niños

SYSTEMATIC PROGRAM (Pre-Kinder to 8th Grade)

  • The Systematic program is for children who are in Pre-Kinder to 8th Grade
  • Registration requires the child's birth and baptism certificate
  • It is recommended that parents attend training during the time their child is participating in catechesis.

SACRAMENTS PROGRAM

  • The Sacraments program is for children seven years old and older (7 to 17 years old)
  • The program is for 2 consecutive years of catechesis
  • It is required that children are already baptized
  • A copy of the baptismal certificate is required
  • The first year the parents attend classes
  • The second year, if the child is going to have godparents, the godparents must attend classes at the same time that the godchild participates in classes.
  • The Godparent (s) must be a practicing Catholic who has all the sacraments. If you are married, it must be by the Catholic Church (a copy of the marriage certificate is required). If you are not married, (cohabit with a partner), the confirmation certificate is required
  • NOTE: If the Child has attended the first year in another parish, a letter from the Catechesis director or Priest is needed confirming satisfactory participation of the child during the first year
  • Parents continue to attend classes the second year

CONFIRMATION PROGRAM

  • For high school youth in 9th grade to the 12th grade
  • The program is for 2 consecutive years of catechesis
  • Registration requires the birth and baptism certificate
  • The first year of school, parents attend classes simultaneously with their children
  • Before the end of the first year of catechesis, Candidates to be confirmed must select his / her sponsor (s)
  • The Godparent / Sponsor (s) must be a practicing Catholic who has all the sacraments. If you are married, it must be by the Catholic Church (a copy of the marriage certificate is required). If you are not married, (cohabit with a partner), the confirmation certificate is required
  • It is required that the second year of catechesis, the godparent / sponsor (s) attend classes at the same time as their godchild
  • NOTE: If the Youth has attended the first year in another parish, a letter is needed from the Catechesis director or Priest confirming satisfactory participation of the youth during the first year
  • Parent / Guardian (s) continue to attend classes the second year

R.C.I.A. PROCESS (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children)

  • The R.C.I.A. Process It is for children / youth from 7 to 17 years of age who do not have any sacrament and who want to be part of the Catholic Church
  • The process is two years. Child / youth birth certificate required
  • The first year the parents attend classes
  • Children / youth who attend this process are required to have selected sponsors before the end of the first year.
  • The Godparent (s) must be a practicing Catholic who has all the sacraments. If you are married, it must be by the Catholic Church (a copy of the marriage certificate is required). If you are not married, (cohabit with a partner), the confirmation certificate is required
  • It is required that the second year of the process, the godparents attend classes at the same time as the godson
